The Process

Features
Interested faculty members and students can initiate the Research Assistantship (RAship) opportunity in one of two ways:
- Faculty members can generate job descriptions delineating the scope of a project, and E-IPER staff will assist in findings suitable MS students whose skills and interests are aligned with the description
- E-IPER MS student may collaborate with a faculty member to define a project, and the student and faculty member may submit the application jointly.
With generous support from the Ann and Reid Buckley Fund as well as the Emmett Fund, all research areas of interest to E-IPER students and faculty are eligible for RAships.
We anticipate awarding 3 RAships annually, each of which will support one project. The funding will include a one-quarter 25% RAship (salary + associated tuition) supporting approximately 10 hours of research work/week.
Timeline
- The E-IPER team will begin the review of faculty proposals mid-January through early February, with additional proposals accepted thereafter on a rolling basis until all RAships have been awarded.
- Proposals are available below and on the Joint and Dual MS RAship homepage. If you are interested in applying for one (or more) of the available RAships, please fill out a webform application within our How to Apply section. Applications will be due by Monday, February 6th, 2023 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
- E-IPER staff will work to facilitate appropriate matches between students and projects/faculty mentors. A match of student/project interests and expertise is not guaranteed.
- By February 24th, 2023, E-IPER staff will have shared vetted and sorted student applications with faculty mentors and announced the final decision-making results.
